Diana Lipscomb has written a basic manual for Winclada and it is available from her website.
It is near the bottom of the page you will find through this link: Diana Lipscomb's page.
This is a very nice manual, and I am working with Diana to improve it. Diana also has documentation for NONA there.
VERSION 1.0 OF WINCLADA IMMINENT!!!
CURRENT VERSION 0.9.99i
THERE ARE MANY NEW ITEMS SO READ THIS:
VERSION 0.9.99c
A problem with file saves has been fixed. If you have downloaded version 0.9.99a on December 15, you should upgrade to version 0.9.99c asap.
VERSION: 0.9.99b
A problem with saving matrices with titles that exceed 255 characters has been fixed.
VERSION: 0.9.99 (14 DECEMBER 1999).
Problems running the ratchet and ANALYZE procedures have been fixed. If you have ver. 0.9.98, PLEASE upgrade to 0.9.99. The problems were due to differences in file i/o and multithreading between DOS and Win32, which resulted in file buffer issues when creating a file and immediately spawning NONA. This caused file corruption of procedure files in some cases; this has been completely fixed. The ratchet and analyze now "wait" for NONA output and automatically load tree files when NONA finishes. You may run up to 5 jobs simultaneously.
VERSION: 0.9.98 (7 December 1999).
Several fixes including problems in changing additivity of selected characters have been fixed.
New features including node frequency counting, collapsing of unsupported nodes, and automated ILD test and RATCHET analyses with NONA.
Documentation will be upgraded to reflect new features soon.
VERSION: 0.9.95a
The problem with printing "small trees" for some users is due to older versions of the dynamic library "comctl32.dll" that provides services such as the print dialog. If you still experience problems printing, you may want to consider visiting the MICROSOFT site or the SOFTSEEK site below and upgrading your comtcl32.dll. This is not a Winclada bug, and I cannot fix it. It is a Windows version problem, but appears to be present on some systems with Windows98 as well as Windows95.
The comctl32.dll upgrade is the same for Windows 95/98/NT and can be downloaded at the following site:
SOFTSEEK DOWNLOAD SITE for comctl32.dll
Here is the experience of one Winclada user:
After some hesitation, I decided to update the mysterious "comctl32.dll" from the Microsoft site. I hesitated because I do not know what "comctl32.dll" is and I do not trust Microsoft all that much neither. But, to my relief, they had a ready to use little programme to do just this. It worked fine and now I can run Winclada 0.9.95 and print normally sized trees. Thank you for helping me out with this! Can one download this version 0.9.95 from www.cladistics.com now? [YES!] As far as I can see, all my other programmes still run, even Rod Page's Component 2.0, Ben Salisbury's weird "Sepal" thing and F. James Rohlf's sophisto "thin plate spline analysis" and elliptic Fourrier analysis morphometrics programmes. What more does a biologist need? User name withheld. |
Version 0.9.95a: (11 Oct 1999)
Small tree printing bug fixed (for many, not all; see above). Interface improved for viewing trees; status line and standard save dialogs added. Print output and emf (enhanced metafile) output made consistent.
Version 0.9.941
One bug fixed that could cause a sporadic miscalculation of CI, RI and information. New option added for the mapping of homoplasious states (now the default) as opposed to homoplasious characters. Open hashmarks now the default for homoplasious changes. Colors can be changed through View-Hashmark menu.
Version 0.9.92 (Oct 4, 1999)
Fixed a bug that resulted in a crash if no trees were in ram and the "open tree file" dialog box was cancelled without opening a file.
Version 0.9.90-0.9.91 (Oct 1, Oct 3 1999): Initial version available for download.
